I went out riding Friday and found a covered wooden bridge that's about 6 mi. from the house.

Here's a pic of it from the GA DOT web site.]

I'll head out next weekend and try to get some better pics because the trees should be in full fall colors by then.

/ps - wooden bridges are ROUGH on a bicycle.

Looks like pretty new construction for a covered bridge. Cool they are 'bringing one back'.

What's the point of the covered bridge again (aside from getting you across the river)?

Musta been a bridge kind of weekend dunno

This is where we went yesterday. It is the tallest bridge in Cali and the third tallest in the US.

It was in the opening shot of XXX. I walked across it. It is freaky in that they have call boxes on the bridge due to suicides. It has a sign saying "there is hope, please call..."

Must be because the bridge deck is wood too and the roof keeps it from weathering and weakening that much sooner.

Actually, it has alot to do with engineering. The cover makes it a more sound structure (less support underneath, and more up above).

We have the highest concentration of covered bridges in the country I believe. The next bike club over has a covered bridge ride where you go threw 6 in the metric century.
