doesn't "orientation" have something to do with showing people where to go so they can avoid being disorientated?

and not anything to do with your course load and a powerpoint presentation. dunno

orientation could be about your course load and a powerpoint presentation could be appropriate. being oriented could mean that the school believes you need guidance concerning your course load and help with scheduling a reasonable schedule. Perhaps they assume that you are reasonably smart and able to read a map and they feel there's no need to hold your hand and walk you around campus. Wink
