The last time I was on a team in one of the RR running events, I reported several runs as 4 miles when they were actually 3.87.

it gives splits, displayed as you run, it can give you pace, or speed. i use it for skating and running.

it keeps a trail of the run,

it does interval training, set for either work time/rest time ot for work distance/rest distance.

it has a pacer and tells you if your faster/slower than the set pace.

it's all downloadable into a log which is exportable to a spreadsheet

more accurate than previous models, better satelite lock on than previous models. come in either 15 hour charge rechargeable battery or in AAA battery. (good in no access to AC powers for days)

Has anyone done extensive comparisons between gps distance and the actual distance? Using it on a bike and comparing the odometer and gps readings? I'm curious as to how accurate it is, especially with varied elevation (hills).

I ride with the GPS and bike computer (calibrated by my LBS)

The computer is often off by .04-.10 per mile compared to my GPS

Trust me, the Garmin is better. It is smaller and lighter than the Timex unit. I had both. The Garmin is unbeatable in my book.

Seems like a pretty significant distance. GPS would have to get much more accurate before I'd consider it.
