My computer came with AOK installed. I added on the expansion pack. I updated to a current version. Last week I played a game with a friend, and I reinstalled AOK (just aok, not xpack) to get to the original version. It worked fine. Then the xpack wouldn't work. So I reinstalled that. And now neither of them work. Any time you try to run it, it just gives you an error message asking if you want to send the report. So theoretically, if I can just scrub the system of everything relating to the game, I can do a fresh install and it will work properly, right? Well if that's true, I'm having problems finding all of the tie-ins with windows. Because I've deleted everything that I could find relating to the game. I've gone through the registry, I've deleted windows prefetch files, I've searched and sifted through 900+ files with the string 'age' in them. I install, and then I get the same error. Oddly enough, if I install the xpack on top of the aok that doesn't work, it will run but then crash as soon as you get past the menus and the game actually starts.
Any ideas? Anyone? Please?
