Long story...
about two weeks ago, baby coach started having some loose stools, and we didn't think too much of it, as he is two, and this usually happens about once a month. Two days later, however, he was getting worse, and going more often, so Mrs. Coach took him to the Dr. They put him on a couple of medications and took a sample. This was Thursday.
The next day, he was still sick, and that Friday night...coachette started having a fever too. By Saturday she was full blown sick as well.
Monday morning the Dr. calls and said baby coach tested positive for E-Choli. He took him off all the medication, and said we were supposed to just hydrate him and monitor his condition. We brought them a sample of coachette.
Baby Coach improved drastically, and although he still has some loose stools. Is doing fine. You wouldn't know he was or had been sick.
Coachette however, laid around most of last week. She had no fever, and was still able to eat and drink, so the Drs. all agreed to just keep an eye on her, if her condition should worsen.
Yesterday...my wife thought she looked "yellow" I definately thought she looked pale, and then we looked in her eyes, and her eyes were yellow too....like a baby when they are jaundiced.
So, off they went to the emergency room. They drew some blood and did some tests and sent her and Mrs. Coach on an ambulance trip to Sioux Falls.
Turns out her infection spread to her kidneys and liver, and she is having some problems with her hemoglobin levels.
So, it looks like we will be here for a few days at least....they are monitoring her, and doing a wonderful job. She is doing well, and basically it's all a matter of time.
We just talked to the kidney specialist, and he said he is going to keep her here until her numbers are good enough for her to go home, but it will probably be Weds. at the earliest.
It sucks to have a young one in the hospital. But, she's doing ok, and everything seems fine, we just have to wait for the medicine to take hold.

Oh my goodness. I am so sorry to hear your babies are sick. That is the worst feeling in the world.
