So earlier this year in june I ran my first 5k in 31:25. Had a blast showing what I could do after dropping 40lbs over the winter and building up from doing the 30 sec run/1 min walk cycle. But thats the past and I just wanted to give a lil background.
I decided to drag my girlfriend with downtown from the chicago burbs. I always use the train and figured we could walk up to the lincoln park area. Well, my girl is a pain in the ass and we got to the train station at 2:15. The next train arrived at 3. Mind you, the race started at 4pm. So i said screw it and tried to make it anyway.
The train arrived downtown at 3:47. We got in a cab, and as we pulled up the race had already started. So I ran to the start and well...kept running. I had no pins for my number so i just held it and felt like a wierdo being the only person running thru the start/finish area. Anyways, I actually passed alot of people and although we had to stop at one point cause the course bottle necked, I ended up running 29:28. Reaching my goal of cracking 30 mins.
Now i wonder if i drop to around 200lbs(235 now) how I'll do.

Psst... she's not the only one.
Hey that's a good time and a story to go with it though. Nice work!

I love that race!! We missed it this year..... Glad to see you made it (barely), and had a good time as well.
I really love the costumes at that race and the tech shirts are the best!
Nice job.

Nice concise report with humor included. I give you a five star rating. Congrats on the weight loss too.
