A few weeks ago, a very good friend (Ex-boyfriend, in fact. Good guy.) of mine informed me he was off to Iraq. He got there safely, thank goodness. I'm not quite sure what to send him in a care package, though. Any ideas? I'm thinking fun stuff - the serious stuff he can get from his wife.

Maybe just goodies and stuff he can't get there. Magazines, candy, gum, stuff like that? I'm sure anything you send will be greatly appreciated!

I just donated a second car to Purple Heart
It won't help the soilders overseas, but it will help those who have been wounded

A co-worker of mine son is in Iraq, I know it sounds off the wall but he send him a case of GU shots, so he always kept them on him, incase he needed a quick boost of energy.
Long story short, his son asks for them all the time now.

Is the writeoff for that FMV or is it a standard amount?

They give you the bluebook as a write off. I knock a couple of hundred off of that.

Ask your local Blue Star Mothers Group, the local USO (most major airports have a chapter to call), or your local reserve unit (in the phone book) for a list of what cannot be sent. Most magazines with scantily clad girls cannot be sent and movies with sexual content couldn't be sent during Operation Desert Storm in 1990-91.
