and please explain the difference between 'requisite' and 'prerequisite'. I'm having a bit of a runaround with the community college and enrollment and this word 'requisite' is in our way.

Breathing is requisite to [human] life. (If you don't breath, you don't live, ergo it is necessary. )
A prerequisite to Calculus is Algebra. (Think admissions, getting into a class may mean you have to take other classes first.)
wanted to make the sentences a bit easier than the ones I found. LOL.
I use http://www.dictionary.com, also a webster site. Same same I guess.

You must take the requisite number of courses in order to fulfill degree requirements for graduation. However, some of those requisite courses have prerequisite courses which you must take before you are allowed to take the requisite courses, i.e. Biology I and II before Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, however all courses are required to complete the degree.
I find that college admissions people are generally numbnuts.

Bravissima!
I think that this is the example that should be in the dictionary. It is clear and to the point. If someone was unsure about the differences between requisite and prerequisite, this leaves no doubt.
Brie gets the assist for the lob pass and Genie slams it home.
