Where's MastrBrewr at?
I'm sure he'd have a few more recommendations for you.

I'm sort of partial to this, but I doubt you can get it that far north.

You had to go and do it, Cheryl, just when I'd finally forgotten how great it tasted. Thanks.

Doubt it not. I don't know how far "north" is but I can get it here in the backwater of S.W. Ohio.
It really depends on what your family will drink. Gee, Coach, aren't you in the southern part of California? Grab some of the product from Stone Brewing Co. They make excellent beer. Every try any?

Coach is in South Dakota. Shiner is brewed in Shiner, TX and I dont' know anything about its distribution, it just seems hard to find outside of TX. I'm actually surprised you get any, although I've seen it in Nashville, Atlanta, Birmingham and once when I looked really hard in the far back corner of a liquor store, Louisville.

They have beer in South Dakota?
I had Shiner when I was in Texas, along with Lone Star and Pearl...I can get Lone Star here but not Pearl...remind me not to shop for beer in that store in Loo-a-vul.
I'm such a good customer at my favorite store that they make a point of letting me know when they get in a new imperial stout. Speaking of which, there's a nice brewery in Battle Creek, MI, which makes a very tasty one. - Arcadia. If you like imperial stouts, this is a fine example.
I can't say for certain about Shiner's distro but Nashville isn't all that far up I-65 from Birmingham...and L'ville isn't all that far fron Nashville...and L'ville is only 90 minutes from the southwest corner of Ohio...
These pretzels are making me thirsty!

My vote's for Bass Ale, coach.
Drinking something else is like cheating on your girl- It seems like a good idea at the time, but you really regret it afterward.

This is a good one Coach, but it may get a few people a little tipsy!
I am looking forward to a few this year myself!

Excellent suggestion for those who appreciate great beer...and who have deep pockets! I believe that the going rate for a six-pack is right around $16...yikes! But good, very good, and a great present!

Bass. Harp. Pete's Wicked. Sam Adams Winter Brew. Brooklyn (my favorite as of late). John Courage. Rogue Dead Guy Pale Ale. All should be available locally, except maybe Brooklyn.

I haven't tried their winterbrew yet this year, but I did like their Oktoberfest. I may have to pick some up for tonight.
