I'm not sure which one I am, but I just dropped one of my online courses. In addition to the college's server having trouble, I just found out from the professor he's been sending almost daily emails that I haven't received that have been detailing things such as deadlines, and other assignments not available from the primary website. The professor doesn't seem willing to resend the missed emails. I guess bottomline is, I'm not willing to do what it takes to make up all that I've missed (which I'm now learning is a lot) from here. I'm a little annoyed that the prof didn't follow up right away with email addresses or missed assignments seeing as how 95% of this course is via electronic transmission. But whatever, I have other classes that are slightly more important to me this semester that I would rather put my efforts into, and this class is only required by one school I'm applying to. I guess I can take it over the summer if I find out in the spring that I need it, right? Just had to vent, I feel like a loser dropping a class....

Ooh, I should make this a poll...brat? or slacker? Mr. Green

This is a big problem with distance learning classes....I had similar issues although fortunately the prof was pretty cool about resending stuff, when I took some a couple years ago. I'd say wait and see if you need it and retake it in the spring.

So, to answer the poll...neither! Wink

ditto, neither. I'm sure if you're anything like me, you have quite enough to do as it is, nevermind piling a bunch of crap on top of it that you didn't know had to be done since there were electronic issues. I agree, take the course later on. Hopefully too you'll have a different prof.

You're not a brat or a slacker, you are a logical and practical person. Concentrating on the other stuff sounds like a good plan to me.

Your story reminds me of a recurring dream I have. I'm in college, and go to class only to discover that it is somewhere in the middle or end of the semester, I haven't been going to class and there's a test or quiz the day I show up. I HATE that dream.

OMG!!! I've had that one too! It's like final exam day and I realize I haven't been there all semester.....and for some reason it's always math class.

Wonder what that means?

Yes, your dream is exactly my scenario. I email the professor abuot the technical server problems and find out I've missed the first 4 (apparently extensive) weeks of class. Shocked BUH bye.
