this is a brand new race to benefit the homeless in our county.

the course is very familiar to me though. i ran a 5K on july 4th weekend here and got almost the same time. it great morning for a run, can't blame the weather or the crowd (which was very small due to another local 5K this morning)

my clock time was 24:35 but the official list had me at 24:46 which is typical for me this course but also discouraging as i had run in the low 23s earlier this year Confused i felt really strong in the 3rd mile after cresting a long hill but refused to look at my watch; i felt i would PR this time.

i'm glad i went but this race leaves me with an overall feeling about my training. deflated but still managed a first in my AG due to the really small turnout.

the volunteers were awesome, running crowd was very enthusiastic; i don't think i've ever heard such loud applause for each and every award given out.

all things considered this past week, i felt blessed to have been there, slogging away, and doing my thing.

After the week you had Rock I think your time is just fine and winning your AG is just icing on the cake. Congrats on the award and you'll be back strong as ever in short order.

Don't feel bad with the time, Rock. A lot of races are like that - you think you did PR-good, and you didn't, or you think you sucked and it turns out you kicked butt. (been there, done both)

You ran for a good cause, you enjoyed the crowds, and you came away feeling good for doing the race. You sound like a winner to me.

You always do. Wink
