Posted: 09/11/03 - 00:40 Post subject: best birthday evah.
i opened a card today that said "Happy 20th Birthday"... boy wasn't i impressed. i'm officially old and wanted to cry or something i'm 19 & 5/4.
i got free cake tonight at one of my favorite dining places (much to our delight we didn't get the same pain in the a$$ server we usually get). and probably put on 5 pounds.
it's been a long time since i actually got a collection of gifts... fortunately my girlfriend didn't buy me an anniversary gift so she just kinda pooled it. i didn't get any toys, but i think she did pretty good though she "kept the bills so you can return them".
The Ataris - So Long, Asteria
Futurama Box Set 2 (i still have to finish the first... along with Family Guy, and Malcolm in the Middle 8o)
Wario World - needless to say this is my g/f's first encounter with a guy playing video games... she was amused by the way i maneuvered around her whilst still watching the screen (at least she was at first...). great game so far. she liked trying to chase the birds
but with white lettering. it's my new favorite jacket, perfect timing for the fall season. it's so comfy.
oh, and a gap shirt that doesn't fit, but she liked it so she bought it, and a picture frame... wooden, and i actually got to pick the fishing picture that went in it, 'stead of a sappy grad one.
this weekend i'm gonna have a booze free birthday. barbeque with party hats and what not. it's gonna be a Finding Nemo party, with plates and a cake and stuff. you're all welcome to fly/run/bus down and have a hotdog or hamburger. after two drunken birthdays, no drunks will be allowed. this is a vain attempt to recapture our youth, since i haven't had a quality birthday past the age of 15. rsvp by friday thanks for the b-day wishes.

I hear ya dude... I have only a little under 3 months left of my teenage years before I turn 20 and now I realized how much I took my teen years for granted. Once they're gone, they're gone! Anyways happy birthday again to you man, and you really deserved what you got today! Have a great party! Btw what's the legal drinking age down in the States? 19 or 20? I'm one of those weirdos who don't like drinking but I'm just curious.

21, but that doesn't seem to stop too many people.

dude - i'm in winnipeg . i'm not a fond drinker either, i was in track so i never partied to that point with my friends. spend a year out at the bar and get it out of your system and then you can just write off drinking... as for my teen years i hear yah! i wish i could've done track and worked in the summer, and gone on vacations, and stayed out all night, and not cared and yadda yadda yadda lol. too bad we can only pick and choose.
of course then it occurs to me that i graduate college move out for a year, move in with my girl, get a job, travel and get hitched (or hitched and then travel). not much partying in *my* future. but i plan on saving for a healthy retirement.
we still hang on to our youth, transformers and gi joes for my pals, i buy a lot of hockey stuff, and some comic action figures. it helps keep you young.
anybody else notice that our toys are all the rage now?

Ya, transformers were my thing back when I was a kid and looks like they still are. Like your avatar! I'm at UBC and I'm not in track/X-country (I don't consider myself good enough for collegiate cross country even though I did improve in my running after high school) though I was in high school cross country during my junior and senior years. After graduation, I'll probably head off to grad school to get my master's, then work for while, then head back to school (probably overseas) to do my doctorate (hopefully if finances allow...)
