Posted: 04/27/05 - 11:30 Post subject: any interest in training partners?
A few years ago...2002 to be exact....alan, mega, and I agreed to train together "virtually" for our fall marathons.
It was a great success, at least from my point of view. What we did, was e-mail and pm each other about our training runs, warm-up races, and keep each other informed as to how we were doing. We would reply and encourage each other when he had rough outings, and I found this to be extremely helpful.
Also, in the past...back at coolrunning, we did an "adopt a newbie" program in which more experienced runners found runners new to the sport, and helped them through e-mail .
I know we are approaching the racing season, and many people have a "feature" event they are shooting for in the fall.
Any interest in "getting together" albeit virtually, and helping each other out in reaching your goals?

Dancer, Happy and I are going IMLP.
I'm sure I'll need support for my first IM.

I'll start...
I'm looking at running a half marathon this fall. Probably in middle/late september. (speaking of which, I need to go check the date on this race)
I'll probably do a few 5K's and 10K's this summer. But the half mary is my goal race.
If you have a similiar plan, give me a pm, and we'll talk.

Any one doing a half IM?
Duke Half IM - 9/11/05. That's my A race. All other tris are just building up to this one.
I'd be happy to work in a few 10ks or even a half marathon mid summer.

Sounds like a good idea...
I'm running my 1st marathon this fall...I've got my training plan for the year mapped out anyways and I'm currently working on it. I'll be running a few shorter distance races this summer (mostly 10ks and a half) as tune-ups for the big one.

I'm seriously considering one, or at least a half. I'll either be doing a half or a full marathon in October. By spring 2006, I want to run the relay part of the Ice Age Trail race in WI. http://www.iceagetrail50.com/home.php
so the plan is to build my endurance and then, over the winter, workout on a stair stepper and do strength training to get ready for the trail race.
Lofty goal, but it sure would be a great challenge!
