Hello ladies! I just got married 2 months ago and just started birth control 4 months ago. Since the birth control I have gained 10 lbs, and I can not get it off! I have not been able to run for a few weeks due to runners knee, but I am still doing cardio 3x a week. I also eat pretty healthy....the same as before. Any advice?

i have the same problem...i just started about two months ago. actually its weird because my weight will not be consistent. during the week of non-hormonal pills (inactive in order to have my period) I end up losing weight. I will have night sweats, and get really emotional....i keep the weight off until like two weeks before my period and then it slowly creeps back up. its pretty weird, and I am even contemplating going off the pill or switching. I am taking ovcon 35...what about you?

I would definitely switch. The pill shouldn't be contributing to night sweats and emotions--in fact it should be helping regulate those. It sounds like the hormone combination is not correct for you. Be sure to mention these things to your provider.

I have friends who have gone through many different types of pills before finding one that works for them. Try a very low dose estrogen one.

Some weight gain is normal with any hormone adjusting medication, especially the pill.

Since you're not running, can you try cutting your portion size down? Or maybe do the cardio a little bit longer?
Good luck!

I've never experienced weight gain when I switch birth control types. For me it usually relates to how I'm eating and my activity level.
I completely understand the emotional side effects though. I had a hard time trying to find the right hormone levels for my body. It's just a matter of talking to your doctor and trying different ones.
Good luck!

Different people's bodies react in different ways. The pill often increases your appetite, and without realising it you end up eating more. Try and increase your cardio? Talk to you doctor about trying another pill?
