Resignations from Bush's cabinet, that is, with Powell throwing in the towel as well. Why do you think everyone's jumping ship?

Demanding work load, little money, just burned out

In Powell's case, I think he may just want to get away from government service, and he has done great service to this country

A question I asked someone at work and don't have an answer for:

How common is this for a second term? How often is there a change in the Cabinet during a second term?

And a comment.

At that level of government, few people actually get fired. They "resign". So, I wonder how many of the 6 resigned and how many "resigned".

i liked powell's pottery barn rule for engagement...'you break it, you buy it' ... how the hell much is it worth anyway?

i get the feeling powell's dissenting voice wasn't much wanted by the president who far more would rather see things in black and white (like the defense department and its neocon cronies) instead of shades of grey...i'd like to say he'll be missed, but i don't think he has been much of a factor in this administration so it's hard to say that he will indeed be missed...

the euphemism at a former employer for the higher ups was 'leaving the company to pursue other career opportunities.'

We have that one, too. There are two similar phrases, even for us lower forms of corporate life. One is used when the person gets fired, the other is when the person just leaves. I don't remember what the other one is right now.

I grabbed this from another forum (may or may not be accurate). Seems that it isn't just the Bush adiministration...

I've heard Rice's name pop up quite a bit for State (oddly enough for Defense as well, even Rummy is still there)

What is good for education in my opinion is that Rod Paige is supposed to announce his resignation. I thought his appointment 4 years ago was weird, he certainly never did HISD any favors.

CP has served his country admirably for many years. He owes no body anything. He is a highly decorated war hero, did an admirable job as SecState, let him make money in the private sector. He earned that and our many thanks.

He hope Condi Rice gets his job. That would be great.

You better qualify what you mean, I made two statements.

And defend your response please or at least give me reasons why you disagree.
