Posted: 09/13/05 - 16:00 Post subject: and the reference comes through!!!
"could you get him in touch with us, we have a few young people on hold and would like to wrap this up by tomorrow."
says the man that really seems to want to give me a job, but has some *burning* need to hear from my college prof reference. my store owner where i currently worked already gave me a glowing reference, he knows my 4.29 GPA (which he's admittedly uses as a measuring pole of studiness - or however you'd say it), he knows the awards i've won (which he's a fan of), he knows my business sense since i seemed to do well answering his on the spot questions in the interview, we got along great, we like a lot of the same things, and for godsakes i'm fun to work with.
i'm currently flustered on two levels - one, why hasn't my teacher called yet, when he said he'd call yesterday morning - and two - what the hell difference does it make to this guy?
he's called/e-mailed twice looking for my reference, and stopped just short of hiring me on the spot on friday, he seems to want to give me the job so bad - why *doesn't* he?
bah.
i'm gonna get midevil up in this mother in a second.

How come the job offerer isn't calling the reference? Why is it the references job to call the offerer? Is this some sort of Canadian thing?

i think it's some kinda "this guys thing"... maybe it's just on their convenience i guess?
anyway, i talked to him on the phone and he got my e-mails about what's happening and that i hope it didn't reflect on me or anything. and yeah, so he actually sounded like he was trying to be supportive saying my teacher would probably come through - and that he's going to try calling him (the teacher) again tonight, and tomorrow morning.
either way he says he'll call me tomorrow afternoon when i'm home from work and i guess i'll find out then...
this is slightly more stressful then it was supposed to be...

just got back from my reference...
his e-mail said this
"We just spoke. Whether you know it or not, you are almost capable of walking on water. Told him that if I were hiring for my company right now at the entry level, I would have already made you an offer."
....money.
