I don't know if I said this in the other thread but we convinced my dad to come with us.
Its a bit premature for this, but after a 16 hour drive, I'm really dreading the return trip.
And George has stressed himself into an infection, but he's getting spoiled now, so he'll be okay...well, when we get home, but he's better now.

Pfff - glad you left even though the damage and the threat may not be as much as originally thought. It is so much better to be safe than sorry.

We got super lucky. No damage and my apt never lost power! Lots of tree mess up by my parents and their power is still off as its still pretty windy here. The return trip was much closer to the normal Waco-Houston travel time, we made it in 3 hours. All family members in the area have word their homes are fine, we were particularly worried about 2, one on the east side. Yea!
Of course now that we're back, nothing is open (expectedly, but still). so, I'm going to a post-hurricane party at some friends' tonight where we eat/grill everything in our freezers and pantries and watch anything but the post hurricane we've all been watching for the last week.
I'll say, it really makes me understand why people don't leave though.

Glad to hear you're safe Pffff. My parents made it in and out safe too--only some power outage and their fence blown down.
Everything else was well except some family issues, but, hey, everyone made it through AOK.
