child support is a wage attachment to my check and it was taken from my check last friday. my wife called this morning and left a message that she hasn't received it yet and that she has bills due this week. I checked the website and it looks like the state has not received the payment from my employer yet, which means it could be another week until my wife receives the payment.
I am really stuck. I really don't have enough to make it to next payday. I need new tires and was trying to figure out how I can get them before next week. I don't think any small amount I could give them would actually help. Oh, I hate this.
sorry, needed to vent

Don't feel bad - it's not your fault. Bureaucracy takes a while to kick in; she should understand that.

Not to sound cruel to your ex, but she could call her creditors and explain the situation. I bet most would give her an extra week or so. Easier said than done, but her bills are not your problem. Let her stress. As long as they aren't putting your children on the street, or forcing them to live without heat, she can keep the stress to herself and leave you alone.

Vent away.
It looks like you are both caught in the redtape. Hopefully it will smooth out.

This sucks lemons, for sure. Funny thing is, if they had trusted you to do the child support thing, it would get to her quicker.
go figure.

I went thru the same thing Keltic. And then I found out they didn't actually start taking it out of my check until a couple of weeks after it was ordered so I got a frickin' invoice for $675 in back support that I owed. The last thing you want to do in Ohio is get on the list for owing back support. There was some serious financial scrounging going on for about a month.

WTF?? I thought PA wasn't a wage attachment state, or is that only for alimony?
Don't do it, Kattz is right. She had to take the b*tchy way and go through the courts so she can wait for the red tape to clear. Had she been decent about it and worked it out with you like so many others do, she would already have her money. Remember what I said about what comes around goes around? Maybe she'll have to skip her shopping binge this week.

I have an email into the office that handles these things. of course, today they are all out to different school buildings for lunch because it's Thanksgiving Dinner day here at school. The administration all goes to the different school buildings for lunch today. who knows when they might actually get back and work.

I don't like that it comes right from your paycheck. (why "attachment"? Why not the clearer "detachment") It's no one else's business what you're doing with your money.

Problem is that there are a lot of "deadbeat dads" out there (moms too, I'm sure) and since many would not pay the support they owe, they are opting more and more it looks like to take the support right out of the paychecks. The system is not without it's flaws, as evidence here, but has got to be a nice thing for those parents who wouldn't be able to collect the support otherwise.
