Is your desk located near a bed? Maybe if you study at the kitchen/dining table away from the bed or other sources of distraction like the TV you will do better. I find that if I'm tired and I'm studying near a bed (my desk is in my bedroom and I would get tempted to my studying on the bed instead) Ill switch study places and go down to the dining table where there are fewer distractions. It works for me.
I've been studying genetics for the last 2 hours or so and I'm still quite uncomfortable about the midterm tomorrow...Don't know exactly what problems the prof's going to throw at us b/c they can get extremely difficult.. Biochem: there's just so much info to digest, understand, and memorize-it's scary (especially when it comes to memorizing all the steps in various signal transduction pathways and the structures of lipids-eck!). Cell Physiology: problem sets are not too bad-basically review of thermodynamics in cells and electrochemistry--havent done a heck of alot of studying for this course yet..

I try to go to the library or at the very least a coffee shop. I can never get anything accomplished at my home. Coffee shops are nice when you aren't in need of furious studying. It's relaxing, and I love "never-ending" cups of cofee.

so after i posted i campped out in front of the tv to watch TS and got thru a chap and a half of hormones and behavior... distractions werent really the issue earlier; i think i was just restless b/c i had just gottehome from arun and i knew i was gonna watch the TS special and time was moving so slow...
i hope im good to go now... a local radio station is playing dance music untill 2, which usually helps me get into a studying groove, so it should get better...

I have days like that too, where I just cannot seem to get motivated. Usually I do most of my work at the dining room table when all 3 kids are gone because I can get oodles done in those 3 hours every day. Other times I take all my stuff into the den and just spread stuff out on the couches. It helps having a laptop, for me anyway, because I can even take the work out to the deck and get fresh air while I'm studying.
Hope you were able to get some studying done! Music helps me too, as does having the news on in the background.
