Posted: 12/19/02 - 16:21 Post subject: a beautiful gold Christmas bow
..is what i find today as i am wrapping the last of mr. rock's Christmas gifts. It was in the bottom of my wrapping paper box, kinda crumpled up, but easily straightened out cuz it's made of that special wired ribbon. then it hits me -- it's one of my mom's bows. My mom made all her own bows for Christmas presents. She took more time making the bows than she did buying the gifts. She was a bow person.
usually, the bows would be complimented but, sadly, ended up in the Christmas garbage with the rest of the wrappings. Not this one. For some reason, i kept it and put it away last year. Since i lost my mom in February, this bow is unbelieveably meaningful to me. beyond words.
i brought it down and hung it on our tree. it is the perfect finishing touch.

Use it to wrap a present to yourself, so you'll be assured the recipient will appreciate it as much as you do.

many years ago a woman from my church gave me the cutest pop-up christmas card, Santa going down the chimney. She died a few weeks later, very suddenly and without any warning at all. Christmas was packed away by that time. The next Christmas I was decorating the tree and found that card with her name and writing on it. I had surprised myself because I didn't exactly remember putting it on our tree. It is part of our tree every year, and a great way to remember that special lady. It is usually the small things that get you.
