It is my sad duty to inform y'all that The Amazing Schlongman, affectionatly called Mr. Winky, has passed along. Hw was found belly up on the bottom of the tank this morning.
I had suspected he was ill within two days of his arrival and the fact that he and another fish were found dead on the bottom of the tank assures me of this. The other said fish, a Paradise fish named Adam, was found bloated.

I doubt that, as in i did a water test last week and adjusted the pH, since it was not the ideal pH, no ammonia issues at all. Temperature was a tad low. but nothing horrid, 70 instead of 72-78. his second day home made me think there was something up. His swimming was not quite normal and he surface and "gulp" air. [/i]

I keep a pretty basic tank really now-a-days, due to all the skating, and running.
mostly neons, and danios, and gouarmis of mixed species, i have two freshwater flounder in the tank as well. I prefer to use live plants too. and use some pond snails to help clean the algae.
if your gonna set up a tank, i'd reccomend a 20-30 gallon. smaller than 20 and your always doing some maintenance on it. over 30 gallons and maintenance takes forever.
i'd say the BEST type of filter is a hang on the tank, wet/dry or a canister style.
