and the lady even used my first name!

so this perfectly nice lady wants to buy some cleats. i get called to the front counter, because apparently on the shoe is a tag with a printed price of $34.99 and a barcode (they are stacked in a pyramid by a sign that clearly says 49.99).

i say oh, that's weird we don't print prices on tags like this.

typically when a price is marked wrong, we give it to them at the marked price. (lets remember this shoe was *in* the box and not clearly visible).

so i said, well i'm not sure where this tag came from, but it's not ours, it's a manufacturer tag of some kind i guess (and it's the only tagged shoe out of like 20 pairs) but i'll try to scan it - and of course nothing comes up. (at this point i know for sure it's not our tag)

she says "well that's not my fault" in a non-smarting, non-angry kind've way. i explain nicely to her that it certainly wasn't her fault, but that we didn't know where the tag came from, and that they were still on for $49.99, and that we always give the marked price if we've tagged something incorrectly - but that we couldn't go from a tag that wasn't ours - did you still want to go with them... (happy, smiling, polite, the whole time)

for whatever reason, she had this wounded animal look, and after a second said "y'know... just stick 'em.." walked 3 steps to the door and turned around to say "y'know (my name here) you're a bad manager"

ok lady. you have a nice day.

some people are ridiculous.

ps. to further vindicate myself i gave an out of town lady a doorcrasher price tonight because they wouldn't be in town tomorrow.

Sounds to me like she was trying to get one over on you. Good job for sticking to your guns.

Well, you can always blame it on the person who planted that 35 buck pair of shoes in the store...

That was actually very unreasonable of that customer btw...

i really don't think she was... she wasn't nearly adamant enough to have been trying to pull a fast one.

oh well. i was happy to have (for once) not said "gee yeah i'm really sorry but i can't do anything" and was actually firm and upbeat about it.

i'll consider it a notch in the belt.

good for you blue.

you're a bad manager teehee

oh yeah, well you're a cheapazz, now tell your story walkin'

i know the customer is supposedly always "right" but this is one reason why i haven't ever worked with the public. i'd have had to kinda get the last word in. i'm a last word kinda person.

i know.

I have to agree with Aire. People work their scams in an infinite number of ways. The innocent victim of circumstance is one. Were she just that, she would not have insisted on trying to get the reduced price.

Are you a bad manager? No.

Are you a bad poster here? Well.... Mr. Green
