Except I'd have a hard time with the stair case.

I am 7 miles from work, and I would bike, but....There is no real bike path over two bridges and that's scary by itself. Additionally, I've almost been hit once by someone trying to pass in the bikelane on the right.
It sucks, because with the traffic down here right now, what should be a 10 - 15 minute commute takes 25 minutes and wastes so much gas.
However, I like being alive and not booted off the bridge into the ocean by someone who forgot to leave for the airport on time.
I's go up to 10 miles each way, providing that there were shower facilities at work. (Sweaty/smelly at work = not good). There is a shower at work now, but the bridges scare me. It's a shame, as it would be a beautiful commute. Sunlight on the water in the morning, nice breeze, maybe a glimpse of a dolphin jumping...
