Good to hear it's not terrible news, but just the same, great thoughts and good Karma right your way.

Kudos for getting to the Doc when you did.

update: can't be confirmed until a blood test 2 weeks after onset....but the doctor believes it is Lyme's and Andrew will be put on antibiotics for 3 weeks. She said it wasn't adviseable to wait for lab results as it's best to treat ASAP. As he appears to be asymptomatic (except for a non-itchy blotchy skin), I think we'll be okay.

I hate ticks Evil or Very Mad

So with the meds does it go away or what does that mean? Man, scary stuff. Hope he's ok. too bad

I hate ticks, too. They creep me out. The other night I crawled into bed with my hubby and started to nuzzle into his chest when I saw this big black thing moving around....it was a tick!!!! Luckily it wasn't attached, but it still crept me out! puke

But I think Lyme's just comes from Deer ticks which are the teeny tiny ones, right?

Molly-

I've been reading up very quickly.....yes, I always, and the experts have maintained that it is from the deer tick or what the South calls black-legged tick. However, there is some thought that the common tick, and some fear maybe mosquitoes can spread the disease. I guess the fear of the wood tick being a culprit is due to so many dogs developing the disease.

The meds should wipe it out....however, there are instances that some people will develop symptoms much later in life. (that's the real scary part). The symptoms are like that of syphilis, joint pain, personality change, heart trouble, and possibly death.

I have a hard time believing that a tick was imbedded for 36 hours (that is supposedly the time it takes to infect) on my son's skin!!!

Prayers, vibes, mojo and serendipity coming your way.

They now have tests to confirm and the right set of antibiotics should get rid of the problem fairly quickly.

too bad But thanks for reminding me to be careful while running in the woods which I often do during the summer. Haven't seen a tick yet but better be safe than sorry!

Prayers for Andrew and his wonderful family on the way. I'm glad the DRs aren't taking chances and treating it now.

Sorry to hear this, Sue. We found both your boys to be quite charming when we met you all in Oshkosh. Here's prayers that the doc(s) can find out what Andrew's got, and can treat it right away!

:thumbsup!

I'm glad to hear they caught it early and that there will hopefully not be any cause for concern.

BTW, I think all tics and mosquitos should be blown off the face of the earth. Can someone give me ONE REASON why we need them??? This whole West Nile virus with the mosquitos is getting worse every year. Sad
