HELP!!

i thought i was fine with this stupid duct taping fiasco thing. I didn't buy any stupid duct tape (AS IF IT WOULD DO ANYTHING ANYWAY) and didn't put one stupid piece of food away in our "secure room". I had basically thumbed my nose at this whole issue.

ON THE OTHER HAND....

this bus stop mom goes on about Ridge's speech last night and how it only takes one roll of tape and some plastic to potentially save your entire family Shocked What kind of parent am i to stand defiant with middle finger extended in their direction??? I am now tempted to go buy the stupid crap just so we aren't the only dead family on the street....

am i letting this get to me or should i do what they're doing??? either way, i feel like a fool. i'd sure hate to be the one banging on their doors asking for tape at the last minute cuz i know they'd leave me out there to burn in the acid rain!!!

RR you are fine. Do not give in to them. Short of a direct attack on your quiet little corner of PA you will be fine. believe me when trouble happens the good guys are more than prepared.

FWIW - I'll never be able to read about RR and duct tape without some vivid mental images. Shocked

I think the media is blowing this out of proportion. They are just aching for something to happen, been to slow lately, and the winter sweeps are coming up.

This kinda reminds me of those disaster drills in elementary school where we'd all get under our desks. OH YEAH. That's going to protect me from a nuclear weapon. Sheesh.

I didn't buy the duct tape (although my husband deems it necessary to own vast quantities anyway) or the plastic sheeting. I refuse to be goaded into panicking.

Besides--after reading some of the posts from the guys on this board--I don't know that I would want to be duct taped/plastic sheeted in with these guys--I think the air might be fresher outside.... Wink

SHOULD I BE READING THIS BOOK?????

where can i get it?? I'm taking it to the bus stop tomorrow. I'm NOT telling them where i got it. let them get their own.

and no comments from the peanut gallery. I did not intend for my duct tape to take on new meanings of national proportion.

why do i feel like an idiot buying it now??

who here has a roll, just in case. C'mon be honest.......

i swear i am on the fence here. ready to buy the gas masks too. then, i switch and want to flip those ba$tards off and send them a missile with my initials engraved on the tip.

see what they have done to an otherwise rational psyche??????

c'mon RR, do you think some plastic and some duct tape is gonna save you? and if they head over here to SW PA aren't they gonna go after some other more important places too? So that would mean a lot of dead people. And if you are all safe in your sealed room, you have to come out eventually. And for what purpose???? you'll be the one having to clean up after all us dead people!!

I say I"ll die with the rest of them. I'm not sure life would be worth living afterward anyway!

Seriously, the little I saw of Tom Ridge speaking, it made sense to me. If a biological cloud is blowing through your neighborhood, getting your family into an interior room that you can seal up for a few hours until the cloud passes seems like a simple thing to prepare for what could pay huge dividends.

Even aside from terrorists, being prepared to duct tape an interior room might be a good idea. A few years back, a railroad car containing benzene spilled in a city nearby. There are more than just a few people that had the cloud roll past their houses and they have some health problems now.

Sealing your entire house is impossible. And if it was you'd suffocate.
