5 minutes from the office and BAM!, I get rear-ended! The damage wasn't bad (only about $200) to my truck, but the car that hit me didn't fare so well.
Am I allowed to take a mulligan for today?

Take a provisional mulligan. That is, if you take the day off and it still goes bad it doesn't count and you get to take tomorrow off.

Sorry MB! Luckily the damage doesn't seem too bad! I got rear ended a couple weeks ago and it's not fun!!! Hope the rest of the week is better.

Sounds like Someone has a case of the Mondays.
Sorry about your luck. Hopefully the insurance company will handle your payment faster than my incident. We just got the check last week. 11 weeks after we were rearended.

I just got back from the body shop. They just have to replace my rear bumper cover at a cost of $250, which is about what I thought it would be.

That really sucks lemons, Mastr. I'm just happy that you weren't injured--so many horrific things happen in the blink of an eye!
Take a day off and go somewhere fun!!! You earned it today!!

Shoot, if this is how my week started, I'd take a mulligan for the entire week, not just Monday.
Glad you're okay!

Okay, I might not take that mulligan after all:
It was a very minor collision, maybe 15 mph. I really barely felt it. The body shop can get the part by lunchtime tomorrow. The guy that hit me wanted to pay out of pocket, so he got a money order (payable to me) for $250 to cover the repair (Parts: $186, Labor:$80)
The guy who owns the body shop is good friends with a coworker (hence, the referral to this particular shop) and is willing to cut a deal on labor in exchange for some homebrew. (the shop does good work, I've used them before).
Should I feel guilty with having gone from a bad morning to making about $50 from the obviously minor accident? This guy's insurance will not go up because it wasn't reported and his deductible was $500 anyway, so he's saving money, too.
I just was not looking forward to work today and I was really just scatterbrained all day, so I probably made it out to be a bigger deal than it should've been.

Sounds great, but probably prudent not to deliver the homebrew until after the labor is completed.
I'd chalk up the $50 to compensation for the time involved. Don't think twice about it.
