that's the message left from DH when I got home tonight
11:08 Ironman and he's upset
honestly....part of me doesn't want him to do another. He can't seem to produce the times to reflect his fitness and it drives him crazy

Just take him out to the back 40 and end his misery. You know he's washed up.
All kidding aside, have you looked into sending him to camp next summer ? I know Nike has running camps all over the US. Perhaps there's a "tricamp" he can attend. At the least you get rid of the old geezer for a few days...
One more thing. The old geezer should feel very lucky he can do as well as he did and has the time to do devote to it. I had to give up serious marathon training because of my work schedule. All I can do now is work on doing duathlons since I find the training requirements less rigid

Anything said in the week following an Ironman/marathon/century is not to be believed.

I'd quit racing Ironman races too if I couldn't break 11 hrs.

My ironman buddy here in Wobegon got to Hawaii with a 12:14 in the 55-59 age group at IM-Moo. I thought that was pretty damned impressive.

especially when it's "I quit". Now, he's all upset because he doesn't think he registered in time, well, not too upset......he said he'll have to go "charity route". $1000 entry fee.
ps: my friend finished in 13:30 hours! Looks like I better learn how to swim. A year ago I thought finishing for him would be tough. I guess I didn't count on him losing a ton of weight. He's holding me to my bet, but giving me a 2008 extension.

I was just looking at the Kona results from 2005. A running buddy of mine from college finished in 10:01.
Do you think he's banging his head?!

hmmmmm....at first I'm like "who would be angry with that time?????", but then I remember my 3:03 and 3:04 marathons . Let's see what kind of mood I'm in, in a few days, with a scheduled 3:02 marathon. I can't not try for those 2 minutes, can I?
