Introducing the 100-Minute Bible. Note - it does not appear in the article that this is a study of the Bible - this is a new, radically shortened, version.

Is this an effective tool to introduce people in this short-attention-span world to the Bible? Or will people read this and say, "I know all I need to know from this - I don't need to get into the whole Book?"

If you knew someone who needed or desired a (re-)introduction to Christianity, would you use something like this (whether on its own or with other materials)?

I wouldn't mind reading it. My knowledge of the Bible, especially chronology of the Old Testament, is rather poor. Obviously it doesn't have the same impact or objective of the complete Bible, but I don't plan on reading the entire Bible.

100 minutes?!? But I want spiritual enlightenment now!

The Bible is quoted out of context enough, even after people claim to have read the whole thing.

From the article its sounds like it might be a decent tool to be used by someone who is already knowledgeable in the original translated text. Otherwise, its probably not much better than the typical children's 'Bible Story Book'. I'd hafta actually read it to have a valid opinion though.

As long as it is accurate, God's word can be used in many, many ways. I wouldn't discount even this being able to reach people--I hope that God can use even this for good.

I bet when new translations other than the KJV came out, this same type of concern was being put forth.

But its not a translation or even a paraphrase. Which is fine, it just shouldn't be viewed as a substitute for the actual Bible.

I do agree that God can use this for good though. That's definitely a more positive POV!
