So what is your mileage goal for '02? Do you have one? Or when you close out your logbook this year what do you think the cumlative total will be.
I need to average 5 miles a day for the next 30 days to safely top 1000 miles. This would be a 25 per cent increase over the previous two years of my short running carrer. Looking back at my log book, I sure took alot of goose eggs in March and April and for no good reason
Anyway, that is my goal. To make 1000 miles. This is one of those "doable" goals but will require some discpline and effort on my part. What I don't want to see is 980 miles on Dec. 30.

my goal for this year was to run more miles then I did last year (1240)...I topped that goal in September....but haven't run much volume since...I currently sit at 1450 miles and with a decent month should be close to 1600 for the year....

Since I ended up with 2 injuries this year, I missed my goal of 2000 milesby quite a bit. I don't have exact numbers because I deleted my running log by accident. If I had to guess, I'm probably going to finish the year out with 1200 miles.

In all the years I've been running, I've never set a year goal. Good question Alan, maybe I'll do that for 2k3.
I'm at 942 right now, which is a lot less than I'd planned. I guess I could say that my goal is 1000 miles, which would be an easy 58 miles for December. So, I'll make it 1100 miles. Give myself something to shoot for.

I basically stopped using my running log when my 6-8 weeks on the bench turned into 5 months. Chalk this year up to a very difficult learning experience. Based on what I had logged plus an estimate of what I've run since then, I'll probably end up with somewhere in the 450-500 range.
Next year I am erring on the side of cautious and saying 1200. If I can't do 100/month I need to hang up the Sauconys. I'd really like to do like 1500 but we'll see......every time I set a really aspiring goal my mental "stuff" kicks in and something happens. I gotta work on that....that's my REAL goal for 2003.

I was attempting to to 1500 for the year. Won't even make a 1000. Overtraining, lack of heart, and 2 months on IR. In June I did start mixing cycling into my week so that eliminated a running day or sometimes 2 a week.
Right now I am just glad to be running again.

I was shooting unofficially for 1000 and I broke that about 10 days ago so everything else now is gravy. I will probably try for around 1500 next year. Overall I am pretty happy with how this year turned out.

Only the last few years have I gone after the longer distance races, so with 22 years of mileage, I actually have my 3rd highest mileage year going..sitting at 1288 right now, should easily hit 1400. (plus I've got nearly 1000 on the bike ) Back in college I ran 1914 miles one year, which will likely be my all-time high. 1500 is probably a reasonable goal for '03.

I didn't really have a goal for this year. It was my 1st full year of running. I will end up at about 700. So next years goal will be more than 700.

My history is a lot like Akern's. I started running in May and will have over 700 miles by January.
Next year will be different because I want to incorporate speed and strength training into my schedule. I'm still learning a lot about running , still making mistakes and loving the sport.
I'm training smarter, so, hopefully, I won't have as many injuries next year and can increase my miles safely, so I can run a marathon by the end of next year. I also want to break all of my PRs I set last Summer. I'm aiming for 1200-1400 miles next year.

I just went over 1200 miles for 2002, which is the most I have ever run for 1 calendar year.
That was a goal I set b/c I wanted to say I average 100 miles per month.
