When is your next race and what distance? What's your goal? Are you training for it differently than you've trained in the past?

I have a half marathon in St. Louis in a couple weeks, but it's a tune up race for the Columbus marathon. I've been doing speedwork, which I've never done before... so we'll see how that works! Smile

Are you using the Pfitizinger 'Advanced Marathoning' plan? If so, how is it going?

I've used the plan and things were going pretty well until I got a nasty virus in late August that put me down for a couple of weeks. I'm finally starting to get strength back which is good because I'm running the Twin Cities Marathon in less than 3 weeks!

Planning on doing the Indianapolis Marathon on October 19th. Really looking forward to it since I haven't done a marathon in 5 years and haven't really trained (until this year) for about 4 years. Also, it's in my old neighborhood! Very Happy
I'm also planning the TB Marathon in January. So I might do a couple of 10k's and possibly a half before then.
Goal for Indpls is sub-4. After that, sub-3:30.

Hey, I ran Indy last year! Nice race...let me know if you'd like to know anything specific about the race...

good luck...

Hey thanks! I used to work at Fort Harrison so I know the course pretty well. My only question would be, why aren't they using Champion Chip timing?

On Saturday 9/14, I'm doing the 9th Street Mile in Cleveland. Then, Oct. 13th, the Run for Wildlife 5k. If I'm feeling good by Oct. 20th, I may do the Great Pumpkin Biathlon (5k run, 16 mile bike) -- my first such event after a summer of 5k races and a fair amount of cycling on my own. I can't see myself running marathons just yet. Mr. Green

I bought the book and have read it and am following a similar training program. RedTornado sent me a copy of the training program he used to qualify for Boston. It's a tough one, and if I get through it without hating his guts we're both going to celebrate! Only two more track workouts, four more tempo runs, and two more really long runs... I'll be glad it's over!

Sorry to hear you got sick.... everything ok now?

I've been feeling okay for a couple of weeks but just now getting back to the point were I'm feeling good running...so the marathon should be interesting....I revised my goal downwards. I'll be extremely happy to just walk away with a new PR (4:31 last fall in my first attempt)...but when I started training after Dam to Dam I was thinking 4:00 was possible... Sad

I've shared some emails with RT during training...he does know his stuff so you should be in good shape by the time Columbus rolls around.

All the best,
