I actually thought it was quite good, at the time.
Don't know if I'd enjoy it as much now.

Hey, Manilow ROCKS! He does, after all, write the songs that make the whole world sing. Ya know, about love and special things.

Maybe it's "Music and passion were always the fashion..."
I must apologize for not being the Manilow fan I let on to be...or should be.

I must apologize for not being the Manilow fan I let on to be...or should be. | It's OK. I thought the line was "Music and passion were never in fashion..."
Had it been, it probably would have gotten more airplay.

Oh, and | Jealous. I was impeached and out of their graces.
I thought you said they were now calling themselves the Manholes.
(but Barry-atrics is pretty damn fubby)

I really shouldn't and this can (and should) get me into some seriously deep trouble but I can't help it...gretriever knows what I mean....
Her name was Lola, she was a showgirl
With yellow feathers in her hair and a dress cut down to there
She would merengue and do the cha-cha
But while she tried to be a star,
Tony always tended bar
Across the crowded floor, he worked from 8 til 4
They were young and they had each other
Who could ask for more?
At the Copa (CO!), Copacabana (Copacabana)
The hottest spot north of Havana (here)
At the Copa (CO!), Copacabana
Music and passion were always in fashion
At the Copa....they fell in love.
His name was Rico. He wore a diamond.
He was escorted to his chair, he saw Lola dancing there
And when she finished, he called her over,
But Rico went a bit to far,
Tony sailed across the bar
And then the punches flew and chairs were smashed in two
There was blood and a single gun shot
But just who shot who?
At the Copa (CO!), Copacabana (Copacabana)
The hottest spot north of Havana (here)
At the Copa (CO!), Copacabana
Music and passion were always in fashion
At the Copa....she lost her love.
Copa... Copacabana... music and passion... always the fashion...
Her name was Lola, she was a showgirl,
But that was 30 years ago, when they used to have a show.
Now it's a disco, but not for Lola,
Still in the dress she used to wear,
Faded feathers in her hair.
She sits there so refined, and drinks herself half-blind.
She lost her youth and she lost her Tony,
Now she's lost her mind!
At the Copa (CO!), Copacabana (Copacabana)
The hottest spot north of Havana (here)
At the Copa (CO!), Copacabana
Music and passion were always in fashion
At the Copa....don't fall in love.

Sparks:
I got my wife to lose two of her three bad listening habits, of which BM (so appropriate) was one. It is not too late for help.
Seek. Intervention. Now.
P.S. The three were:
1) BM.
2) John (I can fly this thing - I went to the JFK Jr School of Aeronautics) Denver.
3) The Carpenters. This one I can't crack - not even the Shaggs' cover of "Yesterday Once More" could do it.

You beat me to it. Proud owner of the greatest hits here. I taped his concert on direct tv. I used to have his record when I was little. 3 of my dolls growing up were named Mandy. Should I go on?
and in Houston we're called "Mannilicious"...

I think my mother tried to enforce some taste on me (or turn my bedroom into a guest room, one) when I went to college and threw most of that out...

So we have found a feminine equivalent of a mom throwing out a guy's baseball card collection. Happened to me... 13 years of cards - gone!
I can understand the feeling of loss.
(but the music is still bad)

Ok, sparky, wait just a minute. First, it was clear to me that someday I would end up singing WITH Barry Manilow, so deep was my interest in him and his songs. At that concert, at which I knew every single word, the guy in front of me had this to say:
Very nice, girly. But I paid to hear him, so could you be quiet please?
I'm almost over it. Thanks for bringing up these sordid memories.
