Your average riding speed?

Riding leisurely was my style up to now. I am beginning to develop interest in speed riding. Fast, faster, even faster than that…I have been working on my speed and endurance and have made significant improvement. Yet I am not sure that this is enough. What is your average riding speed?

Well people have always been fascinated by speed. It is normal that you want to get faster. After all the fastest rider wins the race, doesn’t he? The average speed depends on terrain. If you are riding on flat ground you will have much higher average speed. Riding up hill can slow you down while going down hill you can reach some speed you would otherwise only dream about. If your average riding speed is over 18 mph you are OK. Guys at the Tour de France average around 25 mph for long distances.
