No one reads the cancellations you sent via Exchange until ten minutes after the meeting was supposed to start.

I have problems with that too. People say they get 'too carried away in their own work' that they forgot to update themselves on what the meeting entails. I hate that.

You plan ahead to bring enough paper and a good pen so that you can doodle caricatures of everyone in the room.

How about when you have a post-mortem meeting to go over what went good and bad with a project after it ends, then no one saves the information. The whole purpose of doing it is so that we can learn from our mistakes; but if you don't save the meeting minutes, what the hell is the purpose of the meeting?

You have minutes??? Cripes, we don't even have agendas, let alone minutes or action items. I quit going to meetings.

I think as soon as a conference room and a table become involved, it becomes a waste of time.

I am trying to come up with a formula that takes the number of people in a meeting and determines how many minutes the meeting runs overtime. All our meetings seem to be scheduled to last an hour, but once I was in one that lasted 5 hours.
So far, I've determined that each person will be 15 minutes added to the meeting (starting at zero, of course), with a one hour minimum.
However, sometimes I noticed that adding additional people (certain, specific people) increases the meeting time exponentially, so my linear formula seems to be somewhat flawed.

Since you work from home Tim that would be the bathroom, yes

I think you need an algorithm that integrates their gift of gab, takes the derivative of their lack of knowledge of the topic and then find an eigenvalue that describes the amount of time based on matrices of the integrated and derivatized values.

That would be most useful indeed. I wonder if it could be expanded for such items as temperature control (from all of the hot air) and irritation level with certain persons (perhaps one would know to take certain supplements before appearing meetings with irritating person).

If I didn't have my little cartooning escapades to get me through meetings I'd be the one always dozing off and falling out of their seat.
