the said Mr. to me and my dad was not around.

I matured considerably at these words.
"Mr. Oaster there is something that concerns me about your daughter."

I all of the sudden realized I had a huge burden placed on me. I was a man who was thrust into a position of making life and death decisions on a critically ill girl, a premature boy and a wife who just had emergency surgery.

Yeah the time was 1705 on 25 July 2000. 5 minutes after Abby was born.

Yup that will do it.

Mine is June 24, 1993, around 1930, "Well, the CT shows you've got three little spots in the back of your brain, so we're just going to keep ya a while..."

Not quite as grave as your situation, but nothing like reality to mature you.

Mine was October 17th, 1996, around 1000, "Mrs. Lambda, are you sitting down? Your daughter's MRI definitely indicates cancer." Until that moment, I would have told you when my son was born.

I know "maturity" (age) is a relative thing, but was there one thing that happened, someone said or did that made you realize you're not "young" anymore ?

People called me "sir" when I was not in uniform.

I'm assuming when you are mature that you are mature enough to realize you are mature....

Already done that.... I wouldn't say that having a mortgage makes you mature. In my case, I guess I won't truly "mature" until I have a wife and kids. Mr. Green

Actually that's a good point...

Kinda like "humility" or being funny...

If you think you ARE, then odds are really good you AREN'T...

And that is so tough to let go. Happened to me at 13 years old.

As for me reaching maturity. Hmm. Probably the first morning I was to be in front of the classroom. Nope. I was still fairly immature then and still am.

Hmm. Gotta think about that.
