How do you see yourself usually?
Are you like Grace Kelly--cool and confident and together
or are you more like Sandra Bullock (she's such a cutie!) and not all with it sometimes? (Like in Two Week's Notice?)
I ask because I can't escape the not-quite-with-it mode and step up into the Grace Kelly.
Yesterday I'm invited to a luncheon. I think--cool--I'll wear girlie clothes and dress up! So, I wear heels. Then I'm tapped to drive. Very little has been plowed so I end up driving for ten minutes with a carload of people looking through three lots for a spot. Then, to get to the luncheon, we have to cross an unshoveled lot. So I can't use the path because it is a sheet of ice. I have to walk in the snow. (Everone else is wearing combat uniforms/boots) I get to the lunch and shake out my shoes (with everyone waiting on me) only to find my hose have ripped--on both feet.
Then, I'm sitting and I spill my juice on my white sweater.
I think I'll go to bed. At least I don't have to wear matching socks there.
Sheesh.

Look, kiddo, just do what I do... rejoice in your awkwardness. Embrace your creative sociability. Stand up on a chair, and for all the world to hear, shout: "This is me!! Take it or kiss my butt!!"

And you can do that without actually falling off of said chair?

I've very Grace Kelly. Of course, that is if Grace Kelly wears clunky snowboots to because she'd rather have warm feet than stylish feet, shops at Old Navy because it cheap, has glasses that are perpetually tilted on her face and is perpetual scatterbrain. If that's how Ms. Kelly was then I'm exactly like her.

Neither. My state of un-couth is really quite un-describable.

I can definitely pull off moments of Grace Kelly when required (if she was a brunette, that is) for social events/fundraisers/etc. But then I still lapse into my real self (the Sandra Bullock type occasionally). And that' really the real me.
I got the comment from the B/F one day "I really like that feminine formal side you, more than the tomboy, I've gotta outdo all the guys side". I believe I told him that when he was first attracted to me I was definitely in tomboy mode. He's not mentioned it since.

I own one dress, never wear make-up, and I may have a pair of high
heels in a shoe box under the bed somewhere.
If it can be tripped over, spilled, or dropped I am the woman for the job.

I too can occasionally pull off the Grace Kelly thing, if there's no food or alcohol involved and I can just sit there and look cute.....but normally I am more like the Miss Congeniality version of Sandra, complete with foul mouth and loopy sense of humor. But I am coming to appreciate those quirks.

I guess I'm more Grace Kelly than I think...I can pull it off if I try, but it seems its when I try is when I wipe out down the stairs or rip the slit in my skirt, etc etc....
and don't get me started with pantyhose...I should own stock in hanes...

Sometimes I'd like to think I'm Grace Kelly, but deep down I know I'm a a Sandra Bullock. And like Genie, I fit the Miss Congeniality profile, most of the time.

I'm thirsty and I itch, I don't see a problem with it.

You really are my long lost sister!!!
I like hearing that all of you have Sandra B. moments. I'm also glad she's famous, because at least I have someone I can look up to.
