I LOVE the beast, its my all time favorite! I moved before they put the son of beast in there. Does the "beastie" still exist? |
The Beastie is now "THe Fairly Odd Coaster" (Paramount Park) They took the tunnell off of it.

When I was little it was the Scoobie Doo. And the tunnell was the best part, it seemed like you were about to be decapitated (good times!)
I really do miss annual summer trips to King's Island. Maybe when I head to the ville later in the summer I can convince one of my friends that its a great idea to head up there for a day...

I went to King's Island when I was 13 or so.
I rode the biggest coaster they had then. Never again. That was my last coaster ride.
I did ride the kiddie coaster here at 6 Flags and about made myself sick shaking so bad.
/Who knew I was going to become more of a wuss everyday as I got older? Who knew? I want a REFUND!

Was it metal or wood? IF it was a dark brown wood then it was the BEAST... Fastest wood coaster in the world. (Not sure if that is true anymore... S.O.B. is mighty fast!)

I hate wooden coasters. The kiddie one I rode here is a wooden coaster. All that goes through my head: creaking? that's wood rot, or termites!

When I moved last month I found some pictures of me at about 16 goofing around KI with friends, there was a cute one in the tin lizzies and another in the eagles ride (that is prominantly featured in the Brady Bunch episode)

(6 Flags or paramount by now, I'm sure) Do they still have the wooden coaster?

Oh I hate to be the one who breaks this to you but...no. It was just torn down in the fall. Astro world is one flattened large piece of very expensive real estate now. I used to go by it everyday though and it was interesting to see them dismantle everything. I think they shipped many of the parts to other 6 flags (it was a 6 flags park for a long time before it was torn down). But it was sad to watch.

They took the Screeching Eagles out last season. Those were always my Mom's favorite.

Well, it had started to host a rougher crowd of kids, and they had declining attendance in the last few years. Considering where its located (rapidly expanding part of town), I don't think many people were surprised it was sold. But it was sad.
meanwhile, what is there to do in Houston????? What isn't there to do? (actually, if you're really asking...get back with me, I can help out)

Well, I know you were joking, but I didn't know if Colin was interested in doing something fun. And if so, in Spring there is a place called Splashtown, it is (shockingly) a water park....
