Last night I shipped off the last of my x-mas gifts to the family knowing I won't have to worry about that again till next September.

Up to 4 yrs ago I would wait to the last day to shop and made a promise then to start a little early on gift shopping. I can now say after 4 yrs this is a better system for me and it take off all pressure of gift giving at the last minute.

Some will say it takes the fun out of shopping but I've come to the conclusion that it gives me more time to spend $ on reward gifts for me the rest of the year knowing the family is done.

The disadvantage if any is hearing them "gripe" about waiting almost three months before opening their gifts, but i always tell them you can open them anytime you want, and the receipt is in the box its my way of getting something off my list and one less thing to worry about.

you?

After July, I'll usually put away a couple things for the girlie's birthday (Dec 11) and Christmas.

I've ordered a couple things from cereal boxes that she's wanted (and I told her no she can't have), that she'll get for her birthday.

DH and I usually wait until December 1 to buy anything and we invoke a "don't you dare buy yourself anything" rule.

the bfs grandmother takes us out shopping in october. she lets us pick most of our gifts and the wraps them. then by the time we open them in dec, weve forgotten all about them.

hi mom likes to get stuff done early too, but is still running around picking up "last minute" "little things" for everyone the week before.

me, i usually wait untill the begining of dec. i hate seeing xmas stuff during halloween and thanksgiving.

Well I used to get most of it done the day after Thanksgiving. That was before I became a work-a-holic. Neutral Last year was terrible and this year will be worse. I wish youse guys were my family cuz I'd give everyone gym membership and know you would use it! Wink

I usually get stuff done on the last possible day. I've bought stuff on Christmas Eve.

I usually start after Thanksgiving but last year, since I did a LOT of shopping online, I even started earlier because I was trying to avoid writing a paper Embarassed I used to wait til the week before, because I do like wandering around seeing the malls all decorated for Xmas, but it is a lot of pressure and I hate that. Christmas usually coincides with end of semester for me and there's enough stress there, so now I shop a little earlier and wrap as I get stuff. I HATE WRAPPING.

Plus once that's done I have more time to bake cookies fubby

I follow the Seinfeld method.

"Cash?! You gave her cash?!

Razz

(really, though, I would get most of the presents on Christmas Eve, but I am being trained to correct this)

I never get it right, but I make the effort to wrap all my gifts and then put them in another box to protect the wrapping.

Is that what they're calling it these days?

I suggest you pick a new name.
