How many times should it take before you stop dialing a wrong number?

I keep getting phone calls from some person that can't speak clearly to save her life. *mumble mumble mumble Thelma mumble*

I got one call from her a few days ago, then last night she called twice back to back. All times I just said "You have the wrong number." and let her mumble before hanging up. So the phone just rang with a number I didn't recognize.

"Hello?"
-nothing-
"Hello?"
"mumble Thelma"
"You have the wrong number, please stop calling me."

And then they start mumbling at me in a pissed off tone. What the heck? I was polite enough to them, next time they call I'm dropping F bombs.

Isn't it a felony to impersonate the police?

We I was a police dispatcher, we would get all kinds of calls. Sometimes even after you told the person that they had the police, they would ask us if we could transfer them.

We have a phone number 1 digit off the local chiropractor. We always get calls like "is the Dr. in." and that kind of thing. I get so sick of it I'm ready to start saying "yeah, come over, I'll crack ya." Razz

For the first 5 years when I received the phone number I have now I used to regularly get calls for a minister with my same last name to do weddings, funerals, rape crisis calls and special church services. No one could tell me the name of church for the longest time where they saw my name, but it turns out it was the biggest baptist church in Tucker (3,000+ members) and the minister was one of their associate pastors. At any rate they apparently changed their signs after I contacted them because the calls stopped at that point.
