This is your opportunity to have your say and be heard.
There is now an official organisation/union that athletes, coaches, managers and supporters can register their interest with.
This union will not only address the problems in athletics at a local level but it will also fight for the rights of athletes all over the world. This union intends to bring the sport of athletics in line with other major sports such as tennis, football, golf, motor racing etc.
World Athletics Union (WAU) will endeavour to achieve this by altering outdated rules enforced by the IAAF and by making athletics more entertaining for the public.
This union will work as one, to address athletes’ concerns and aid the athletes in having their needs and wants delivered.
Athletes will be able to take control of their sport and they will also influence the future of the sport. WAU will endeavour to work with athletic associations, so that there is not a further divide between athletes and administration.

Issues that will be addressed on behalf of those who become a member of this union will include:
• Clear cut selection criteria for athletes.
• Rules and regulations regarding individual sponsorship.
• Unnecessary rules that inhibit athletes.
• Athlete friendly timetables for major events.
• A greater respect shown to athletes by administrations and officials.
• Prize money for major events.
• Many more!!!!!!
• Any other issues that members would like to see addressed.

We are aware that athletics is an individual sport and this makes it difficult for participants to have their concerns heard, especially without retribution by administration. Hence by registering with World Athletics Union you can have your concerns aired and be assured that your name will remain anonymous. The more people that register the greater the influence we can have!

Is this one of those things where we start asking all these questions but nobody ever answers us?

Maybe Runner X knows the answers! Very Happy
