dance I was just notified by email that I successfully obtained for sure a research assistantship award for this summer (from May to August). This means I will be working full time in my supervisor's lab on a research project (though I have to prepare and write up a thesis during the fall).
As far as the nature of research goes (for all the science geeks out there who want to know more), I will be working in a genomics lab (doing microarray analysis, PCR, etc) in the forestry department (though my supervisor's in botany- he has 2 labs) particularly on upregulation/downregulation of genes expressing enzymes that help synthesize defense compounds in response to insect attack. Here's my supervisor's webpage if you are interested in knowing more: http://www.botany.ubc.ca/bohlmann.html
