Think about it for a minute... we spend all day almost every day at work. We really only get a few hours in the evening to ourselves, and if we have families (and even if we don't, really) a lot of that is spent doing "busy" things, not following pursuits and relaxing. We sleep for a while. Then we get up and do it again. Five, maybe six, sometimes 7 days a week.
You'd think these people could act like they know what we're giving up and acknowledge all we do.
However, as far as I can see (I've never received a gift at any time of the year from any employer, and I even spent 4 years at The Illuminating Company), they really only spend their time thinking about us in terms of what MORE we can do, what MORE we can give (or give up to give!) reference: Office Space, and the boss's weekly ploy to get him to work Saturday.
Blah. Bah Humbug.
