I just got out of the most bizarre job interview ever. It was for the Florida Keys Children's Shelter as their financial manager. I heard about it word of mouth, and spent and hour and a half speaking with the administrative director. She didn't offer me the job, but asked me to come in and spend time with the woman who is currently in the position.
I need this, people. I'm going nuts here. I can't write full-time (I have to get a creative flow going) and the waitressing thing is just getting old in a big fat hurry. I need to get back in a professional (but not corporate) environment, where I actually need to use my brain on a daily basis before I go completely insane, or completely bitter.
So wish me luck, please! At least I'll be putting my accounting/financial knowledge to a good use!!

Good Luck!
I hope your time observing at the shelter will be what it takes to be offered the job. Sending good vibes to you for sure!

Good luck! Sounds positive to me. I doubt they invite too many people they are not interested in to come hang out. Let us know!!

Thanks, everyone!!! It would really be a nice job. Not corporate, but helping out with a good cause in a small office environment. That's what I was looking for in Columbus and couldn't find. If we're stuck here for two years, might as well make lemons out of lemonade.
Don't get me wrong. I like the South. This isn't it. This is perpetual Mardi Gras with donkey-heads with way too much money, way too much booze, and way too few brains to make any sense or be in any way sociable except with others like themselves. You like Paris Hilton and Dean Martin, you'll fit in fine here.
I prefer my cucumbers, not my liver, pickled.

wow - Good Luck Kristin!!
it sounds like a bunch of over-sixty victims of fate down there -- too much money and not enough sense.
i wish you all the best. sounds like they really need some functioning brain cells down there.

That sounds PERFECT for you!! I hope you get it.....definitely the right combo. Do these people seem to have any more of a clue than the others? Why is the person there now leaving?
