i've been spring cleaning and let me offer this bit of advice on window blinds..

DO NOT - for the love of all that's good in the world -- GET WOOD WINDOW BLINDS.

No, I am thinking of pleated shades or cellular blinds.

But why not wood?

no way, I remember seeing an ad on HGTV for a wallpaper/blind factory outlet. you don't think they'd lie about their low prices, do you?

Yeah, why not wood? I thought they were supposed to be easier to clean than the pleated shade kind, and better for allergies too (because you can get rid of all the dust).

Once upon a time I had to do the blind thing, and I went with Lowe's because they were fastest and cheapest.

Before Tof was in the cel phone biz he was a blind man (insert joke here). You really do get what you pay for with blinds, and if you own this place/plan to stay awhile you may want to get the best you can afford.
I remember him saying Home Depot carried good blinds for excellent prices. He left the blind company shortly after Home Depot arrived here because he knew they couldn't compete.

ack! i have 21 windows with wood blinds. i like the way they look, but they are so hard to clean. dust magnets!! i can't stand looking at the dust on them so it becomes a maintenance nightmare. can't vacuum them so its just a huge BORE to dust all those slats.

If it weren't for Venetian blinds, it would be curtains for all of us.

I agree....once you've had the best (and my opinion HD silhouettes rock), it is soooooo very hard to go back to cheap crap that was put in this house.
don't get me started. I was totally PMSing last night and ranting about the inadequatites of my current residence. Of course the ugly bookshelves in my family room was the focus....but the stupid blinds in my son's bdroom was mentioned in the rant. But hey....I was promised a new stove and kitchen table....so PMS is good for something Wink
