When there is free health care and a cornucopia of other social safety nets?

Really, aren't you tired of all the b!tching about how much catching up to the European system the US has to do?

Where has it gotten France?

By taking the French as an example, we could begin to learn to conserve water.

I'm unaware of wanting to 'catch up' to Europe. But, I only personally know one person living there right now and he doesn't have alot of faith in it.

The rioting is because two teenagers were electrocuted.

While running away from what they were afraid were police. I'm not sure what events led up to the running away, however. Or if there really were police, or if the teenagers had done anything to warrant a police chase. That's all I know.

I've heard some "interesting" remarks from the French contingent down here about the whole situation, however. Most not very nice, but I work for a bunch of asses.

Thank you. We still don't have any TV yet, and after a while I get sick of , sorting through internet news.

Someone made a very disparaging remark in front of an acquaintance of mine, without realizing she is a Muslim, with family in Paris. She was upset. She is also worried about her family.

sometimes people riot in the US because they know they can get a new tv via looting that is sure to follow - maybe it's the same in France for some people.

The CBC reports that some of those involved in the mayhem indicated they have been setting cars on fire in order to get the TV and news people there. Once there, the people in the neighborhhod have a podium to air their grievances. They know the pavlovian ways of the media.

Sure it is. And the bomb-making factory in Paris is just for show.

And this doesn't happen in the south with the Klan? Your bigotry is just astounding. I am really disturbed to know that anyone still thinks at this level. While this post certainly is not your finest, it was enough to send me over the edge to say what I feel.

Alan, ban me if you want. This guy's hatred and lack of respect or understanding for anyone not white, conservative, Republican and non - American citizen has me disgusted and baffled. I can't believe anyone still thinks in such an ignorant bigoted fashion, especially someone who claims that he is so well-educated. It's a travesty, and makes me ashamed to be an American lest people think my views might resemble his because I am also an American. It's people like this that make me ashamed of my own country.
