PostPosted: 08/20/03 - 14:15    Post subject: Why I Don't Play the Lottery (much)
On Monday I pulled into the local stop n' rob to buy a coke and noticed the lottery drawing for wednesday night was $15 million. I never play the lottery except when it gets to like $30 million (I never give the state more then $1). But on a whim I buy a ticket.

However, this morning I breeze into the office and decide to check my ticket on the lottery internet site. Remember, the ticket in my hand is for the drawing tonight. I discover that as usual I didn't win, and as is more often the case as not, I do not even have one winning number. I am holding the ticket for tonight's drawing and comparing them against last Saturday's results. Thinking that I am once again taught a valuable lesson about when my greed outweighs my intelligence I rip the ticket up and toss it in my trash can.

So at lunch I go by a stop n' rob by the office. While standing in line I watch the lottery marque that says tonight's estimated jackpot is $15 million. So I stand there, thinking if no one won last night the jackpot should be higher and hahahahaha the people at the lottery made a mistake.... Shocked

So what do I do? If I win, I promise $1 million American to be split amongst the RR who voted correctly. If I lose, all you get is another opportunity to point in my direction and laugh.

Only problem with taping it together is that if you did happen to win they might used the defaced ticket against you and say you altered it in some way.

Leave it in the trash. Your odds of finding and purchasing a bag of jalapeno chips at the stop 'n' rob are better than winning the lottery.

Nope, that's what the research shows. If you should stumble into a winning lottery ticket, never cash it without advice from your attorney and your accountant... so, after signing on thegman, I'll be waiting at the phone.

...i don't follow at all.

you checked your ticket against old numbers by accident? then tore it up and found out nobody won... so now you want to dig up your ticket for tonights numbers?

i seriously question your commitment to gambling. how can anyone wager to win 15 million dollars and then not follow up properly.

next time you feel the need to buy a ticket, simply place a dollar bill in an envelope and mail it to me. after 10 tickets or so, i'll declare you a winner and send you a 5$ cheque. you get to "win" and i feel good about myself for letting you win. deal?

I tore it up thinking the drawing had already happened. I checked it against the numbers that won the previous drawing. I ripped up a ticket for something that hadn't happened yet.

As for the rest... LOL LOL LOL exactly, and I couldn't have said it better myself. but sometimes I am still a sucker Embarassed
