My opinion is that you should only give your best at what you do and that you shouldn’t idolize anybody because that can have quite the opposite effect in the sense that you can subconsciously think that you can never achieve anything so big and important like those people. And that can create a huge psychological barrier and prevent you from achieving something you’re capable of. So, I can only notice that somebody is a great runner, and I can admire him from the distance, but that’s all. It’s not like I’m going to compare his and mine results. I’m not saying that this method is working since I’m only an average runner, but who knows if I had more talent what would become of me.
