When we talk about bike trainers there are basically three different types. Fan trainers are cheaper but noisier while magnet trainers are usually quiet. Their prices are usually tolerable. On the other hand, if you prefer lifelike resistance and spending some extra few bucks isn’t going to be a problem, then you can consider the fluid trainers. They are considered more expensive, but also quieter, and smoother. My friend has a Tacx Satori (which is a magnetic trainer) and he doesn’t have any problems with it. He isn’t complaining about the noise either. As for me, I have the Cycleops fluid 2. I usually ride a couple of thousand miles during winter on it. I am more than satisfied. As for the price, it goes from $75 - $380.-
