If you are thinking about buying a trainer you have to pay attention to some things. You have to decide how much money you are willing to spend on a trainer. You can pay as little as $75 or as much as $380 for a good indoor trainer. Another thing is the kind of resistance you want. There are three main types; fan, magnet or fluid. Fan trainers are famous for being cheaper but noisier. Magnet trainers are usually quiet and smooth. Their prices are usually reasonable. However, if you don’t mind spending some extra money and prefer lifelike resistance and less heat buildup on your tires then you should go for the fluid trainers. More expensive trainers are heavier but provide better stability. Larger trainers that require you to remove the front wheel should be avoided. Therefore you can select a folding model. If you have a road bike you can consider rollers. They are more expensive and require that you learn how to balance on three spinning drums. At least, you will not be bored…and your bike handling skills will improve.
