I'll tell ya...

Tburt has been changing homes, changing jobs, changing girlfriends....and oh yea.

JED SWEETSER - YOU ARE AN IRONMAN!

I did it! At 11:19 pm on November 8th 2003 I went down in the annals as an official Ironman.

With a swim time of 1:29, a bike of 7:20 and a run of 7:06, i completed the Ironman in 16 hours and 19 minutes (i may have my bike time off by a minute or two).

So, what did i learn?

I learned that no matter what failure is not an option (if it can be prevented)

I learned how to push the limits of pain

I learned how a few simple words can make a struggling athlete light up

"Pain is temporary, Ironman is forever" not only did i repeat that phrase to myself all day through the run, i also repeated it to many athletes who wooted and cheered after.

Anyway those are details that i will write in my race report which i will post sometime wed or thurs.

One thing i'd like to say...i bonked so bad on the first half of the ride that i actually got off my bike at mile 60 and started walking towards a volunteer to have them call an official to transport me to the transition area....but by the time i got to teh volunteer i had talked myself back onto my bike.

I'm so glad i did.
