I will be a 'Coach' for a Women in Technology day long event for High School Girls..

To provide a fun, interactive environment for Grade 9 girls to learn more about the types of careers available in the Technology sector. Students will be asked to participate in an “Apprentice”-like team-based activity in which they will carry out the responsibilities of their real-life industry counterparts in a bid to win the judge’s vote for best project.

During the event:

The girls will be divided into teams of 10 – 12

There will be two coaches per team

I will be assigned my team and location when I arrive

The coaches will assign the roles to the girls on their team(PM, Team Lead, Designer's etc)

Each team will have a laptop for the day

There will be extra laptops available for research (getting photos, looking for links)

We have defined the time guidelines for each phase of the project (picking a theme for their web site, designing, etc.)

Each girl will receive a bag with some small prizes and post-secondary educational literature

There will be a draw for the grand prize(Laptop) at the end of the day.
